The Policing Pledge (Posted @ 27-3-2009)Introductiion to The Policing Pledge : It’s a new set of promises from the police on the service they should provide and every force has committed to keeping those promises. The police promise to listen to your concerns, act on these concerns, and then keep you informed of the progress they’ve made. Each neighbourhood will have locally agreed priorities, as agreed by the community.

The Downtown Defence Campaign (DDC) was created in November 2002 as a non-political neighbourhood self-help group that exists soley for the purpose of safeguarding the interests of the Rotherhithe Community. Development plans for SE16 6NP were deemed by many to pose a serious threat to local homes and parkland (Russia Dock Woodland and Stave Hill Ecology Park) and the DDC was formed to ensure that planning projects fit in with the needs of the local community.
